We are living in the world of modernization. This new products of technology makes our daily living easier and more comfortable. In fact this new products are really made just for the benefits of us, people. It is all guaranteed for the sake of us.
One good example of these new products that prove the development of the society is the access in the internet. Internet as we all know refers to the shared computing network. In other words it is a technology that provides with a vast knowledge on different areas that w wish to know in just a single click. It makes our studies and work easier through the knowledge it provides.
Internet does not only help in our studies but it also contains many applications like games and some social networking that interest many teenagers or even other people of different ages of nowadays.
Internet is definitely one of the best things that technology gave us. But with this gift we should learn how to treasure and use this technology in a proper way. As I can observe from today many of the people take this technology for granted. They don’t even understand what internet is for. They just use it for fun and for their own sake.
This issue is very alarming if you will ask me. For me one should learn their part as a user of internet. One should b a good netizen. But what is this netizen?
Netizen was derived from the word Internet and citizen. They are also called as the cybercitizen. They are the people that are actively involved in online activities. Most especially those people who used internet to write articles, post videos or blogs, and are contributing to different internet group. Netizen are also the people that become part and participates in the internet society. In other words we can all be considered as a netizen.
Being a good netizen is just an easy job if you will think of it. We could all be a good netizen if we will just follow all the guidelines on how to become one.
One should know what really internet is for. We should all take in our mind that internet has it limitation. Internet is not just for fun, games, meeting other people. The main objective of having internet is to provide us with a vast knowledge in our society.
To make it clearer there are some rules or should I call it some commandments on how to use the internet wisely or how to become a good netizen as well.
The first from it is one should not trust other to protect their privacy. This is one responsible of a good netizen. It can be imply when using google, facebook and any other application in the internet. One should always be responsible in protecting her own privacy and ensuring that he is protected.
Another guideline is that make sure that when you are using the internet you are always aware on what you are clicking on and where it will take you. Never believe that you won some free stuff that you never registered for. One should also be careful on what they see and who sees it. All too often, people forget that their spouse is on their Facebook account when they change their relationship status to single. They sometimes even forget they added that snitch in the office last week when they want to vent about work. Thou shall be careful with his mouth on the net and count to 10 before submitting. Another guideline is that one should also vent on the net anonymously. If you feel the need to vent on the internet, you shall do so anonymously. That way, you will not have to worry about who knows about it and what you end up saying. It is therapeutic to have a secret blog or forum to vent in. One should not also believe in everything they read on the net. They should know what to believe in and what should not. Another thing is that one should discoinnect. Every once in a while you will need to disconnect yourself from the net and go into the wild. Rediscover reality and bring back all those raw thoughts back with you to the net. That will refresh you and allow you to wind down. That means not wireless connections, no blackberries, and preferably no cellphones.
These are some of ways on how to be a good netizen. But you in yourself should know how to be a good one in your own ways. Like myself.
Like I have said each of us should know the proper usage of internet. In me, when I’m using internet I see to it that everything I will do is for my studies and nothing else for I know that I should use it wisely. I also take in mind the benefits in provided me such as the chance of meeting and connecting to other people through its variety of social networking like facebook, twitter and etc.
But in another part of it it’s just so alarming that many people are using it in a very outrageous manner. Some of them are using it just to create some problems like editing photos, spreading different videos and even virus. This is the bad side of using internet. Using it for non-sense activity just for fun, just for their own sake.
I just hope that people like them will be lessened. That every user should apprehend that having this internet is a big opportunity given to us. It is made for us to explore and learn more things. Therefore we should use it in a rightful and productive ways So instead of just playing with it, one should treasure it.
Remember that every user of internet should learn how to be a good one. And I just hope that everyone is a responsible one. Me in myself will try my best to use the internet in productive way and ensure that I will be a good netizen of it. How about you? Are you a good netizen??
